Nombre real:

Louis Thomas Hardin

Nacido el 26 de mayo de 1916 en Marysville, Kansas; Murió el 8 de septiembre de 1999 en Münster, Alemania.

Moondog escribió la mayor parte de su música en braille,

 ya que perdió la vista en un accidente que involucró una

 cápsula de dinamita a la edad de 17 años.

Venerado pionero en la escena vanguardista/minimalista,

 generalmente dentro del ámbito del jazz. 

Su actitud revolucionaria hacia la composición y la melodía

 fue elogiada por contemporáneos tan eminentes como 

Philip Glass y Steve Reich , mientras que su estilo y actitud generaron

 comparaciones con Harry Partch . 

Su influencia se puede ver en la música de Stereolab y Moonshake
